4. Recording of data on this website

Google Tag Manager

We have executed a contract data processing agreement with Google and are implementing the stringent provisions of the German data protection agencies to the fullest when using Google Analytics.

6. Newsletter

Newsletter data

If you would like to subscribe to the newsletter offered on this website, we will need from you an email address as well as information that allow us to verify that you are the owner of the email address provided, and consent to the receipt of the newsletter. No further data shall be collected or shall be collected only on a voluntary basis. After you unsubscribe from the newsletter distribution list, your e-mail address may be stored by us or the newsletter service provider in a blacklist to prevent future mailings. The data from the blacklist are used only for this purpose and not merged with other data. This serves both your interest and our interest in complying with the legal requirements when sending newsletters (legitimate interest within the meaning of Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR). The storage in the blacklist is indefinite. You may object to the storage if your interests outweigh our legitimate interest.

YouTube with expanded data protection integration

This website embeds videos of the website YouTube. The website operator is Google Ireland Limited (“Google”), Gordon House, Barrow Street, Dublin 4, Ireland.

We use YouTube in the expanded data protection mode. According to YouTube, this mode ensures that YouTube does not store any information about visitors to this website before they watch the video. Nevertheless, this does not necessarily mean that the sharing of data with YouTube partners can be ruled out as a result of the expanded data protection mode. ReadSpeaker

What is ReadSpeaker

ReadSpeaker is a reading service for Internet content. Visitors to the website can activate the reading service by clicking on the function. We then generate the audio files in real time. This means that when a user clicks on “Read aloud” on the website, a call is sent to our server, we maintain a connection to the user via the IP, the text is sent to us, we generate an audio file from the respective text and send it back to the user in a streaming process. As soon as the delivery has taken place, the whole process is completely deleted and we wait for the next click.
ReadSpeaker only documents how often the read-aloud function has been clicked. No user-related data is collected, logged or documented. ReadSpeaker does not collect or store any data that can be used to identify a person.

When a user changes settings (highlighted setting, text size, etc.) in the player, ReadSpeaker stores this information in a cookie in the user’s browser. In order to retain the settings selected by the user for all pages of the website, the cookie is linked to the URL of the website. The cookie expires after one week. ReadSpeaker generally collects statistical data on the use of the read-aloud function. However, the statistical data cannot be linked to individual users or their usage. ReadSpeaker only stores the total number of activations of the read aloud button per website and language. ReadSpeaker stores the IP address for the activation. These are stored in standard web logs to enable appropriate security measures such as recognising bots and following up on possible service failures. The logs are only stored for one month.

What is stored

ReadSpeaker webReader stores two cookies:
1: A first cookie that determines whether or not the javascripts should be loaded when the page is loaded. This cookie is called “_rspkrLoadCore” and is a session-only cookie. This cookie is set when the user interacts with the button.
2: A cookie that is set when you make changes to the settings page. It is called “ReadSpeakerSettings”, but can be renamed with a configuration (“general.cookieName”). By default, the cookie lifetime is set to 360 000 000 milliseconds (~ 4 days). The lifetime of the cookie can be changed by the customer to allow a longer/shorter lifetime.
